QUINTA DO LAGO SOUTH COURSE
The south course, the quinta do lago crown jewel, has hosted the portuguese open at least eight times. Designed in 1974 by william mitchell, who raised the bar by introducing american-standard greens, tees and bunkers to the algarve, it soon gained the reputation of being one of europe’s main courses and remains one of the flagship european tour courses. The course hosted the portuguese open in 1976, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990 and 2001.

With five beautiful lakes, laranjal is quinta do lago’s newest course. Voted the best golf course at the portuguese travel awards 2011, its reputation has grown since its launch in 2009. Laranjal is renowned for its stunning woodlands of umbrella pines, cork and orange.

Vale do lobo’s front nine offers elevation changes, surrounded by pine trees and enlisting a sea view. Players will especially enjoy the back nine, which spills down to the beach. The royal golf course has rolling fairways set amidst pine trees and beautiful lakes surrounded by wildflowers. The features of the royal golf course include the almost island-green of the 9th and the famous 16th, with cliff-top carryover, one of the most celebrated golfing images in the world, now synonymous with golf in the algarve.
Saltwater Lagoons
SAN LOURENZO GOLF COURSE
Bordering the ria Formosa estuary and saltwater lagoons, this joseph lee designed course is a feast for the senses. Opened in 1988, the San Lorenzo golf course takes advantage of extraordinary topography, winding its way gently over undulating pine woodland. The 18 holes lie in a figure of eight, with the San Lorenzo clubhouse at the centre, along with a golf pro shop, comfortable changing facilities and a welcoming bar and restaurant.
Championship Course
PINHEIROS ALTOS
Pinheiros Altos is one of the most prestigious locations for premier golf in Europe, owning a 27-hole championship golf course. The original 18 holes were designed by acclaimed American architect Ronald Fream and the additional 9 holes by the highly regarded Portuguese golf architect George Santana da Silva. The 27-hole championship pinheiros altos golf is presented in three contrasting nine-hole formats. Every nine holes is a par 36 and named: the pines (pinheiros); the corks (sobreiros) & the olives (oliveiras). Located in the ria Formosa national park, the 27-hole championship course offers exciting challenges and varying degrees of difficulty.
